Everclear DAO

The Everclear DAO governs the Everclear ecosystem. We’ll show you how you can play an active role in the DAO.

Governing the Everclear Network

Participating in the Governance of Everclear

The following explores how you can play an active role in the Everclear DAO to help in governing the Everclear protocol.

Have you wondered what you can do to become a member of the Everclear DAO? Are you interested in helping the DAO in shaping the Everclear ecosystem? In the following, we will take a closer look at what the Everclear DAO is and how you can start participating in it.

What is the Everclear DAO?

The Everclear DAO is a Decentralized Autonomous Organisaiton (DAO) that governs all aspects of the Everclear ecosystem, including critical smart contracts and resource allocation. The DAO is composed of all token holders who are able to participate in the organization through various means, for example by creating governance proposals and voting on proposals.

What are the Tasks and Responsibilities of the Everclear DAO?

Here’s an overview of some of the most important tasks of the DAO:

This includes the following responsibilities:

  • 1
    Governing the Everclear ecosystem.
  • 2
Supporting the development and growth of the Everclear protocol and to foster the adoption of the Everclear network.
  • 3
Allocating funds from the treasury to Core Contributors and service providers.
  • 4
Allocating assets from the treasury to fund operational expenses of the protocol (until financial sustainability is achieved).
  • 5
Evaluating resource allocation efficacy and optimizing the process.

Additionally, the Everclear DAO oversees electing and removing Security Council members.

Is the Everclear DAO Part of the Everclear Collective?

Yes, the Everclear DAO is part of the Everclear Collective.

The umbrella term Everclear Collective describes all entities, organizations, and individuals that are participating in the Everclear ecosystem. The collective is comprised of the Everclear DAO, the Everclear Foundation, core contributors (such as Proxima Labs), and the broader Everclear community.

What is The Purpose of The Everclear DAO?

The purpose of the Everclear DAO is to help the Everclear protocol in realizing its vision of powering the infrastructure for applications that are universally accessible from any chain and with any tokens while ensuring the highest possible level of security is maintained.

The DAO contributes to Everclear’s vision by overseeing protocol and ecosystem development as well as effectively allocating resources to individuals and organizations that are contributing to the growth and adoption of the protocol.

How to Contribute to the Everclear DAO?

There are many different ways of contributing to the Everclear DAO. Some involve playing an active role in the Everclear ecosystem and actively participating in governance while others allow for a more passive role. Let’s have a look at how you can participate to the DAO.

Voting on Governance Proposals

The Everclear token is a governance and utility token that powers the fair utilization of the Everclear network. The token can be used for participating in governance by voting on proposals.

If you want to actively vote with your tokens, you need to delegate your tokens to yourself via delegate.everclear.org. To delegate to yourself, please select your address and delegate any amount of tokens to yourself.

#1 Navigate to delegate.everclear.org
The delegate dashboard lists all addresses holding the Everclear token.

#2 Type your address in the search field
Find your own address by searching for it.

#3 Delegate to yourself
Delegate your tokens to yourself.

#4 Voting on Proposals
Once you have delegated your tokens to yourself, you can vote on governance proposals.

Please keep in mind that you can only vote on governance proposals that are created after you have delegated your tokens.

You can vote on governance proposals via Snapshot. (Snapshot is a voting tool used by different DAOs for organizing DAO votes).

Delegating your Tokens

Here’s the step-by-step process for delegating tokens to a delegate:

#1 Navigate to delegate.everclear.org
The delegate dashboard lists all delegates of Everclear and provides data about each used for scoring and tracking contributors by displaying engagement across the Everclear DAO.

#2 Select a Delegate
You can use the filters to find active delegates.

#3 Delegate to a Everclear Delegate
Once you have identified one or several delegates, you can delegate your tokens by clicking on “Delegate” and then confirming your selection.

Participating in Governance Discussions

The Everclear forum is used by the DAO for all governance-related discussions. DAO members can get started on the forum by registering an account on the forum.

You can actively participate in governance discussions on the Everclear forum. On the forum you will find various different topics created by DAO members that discuss governance-related topics such as Requests For Comments (RFCs) and proposals.

There are three different types of proposals:

  • 1

Executable Proposal (the proposal is automatically executed ones of the proposal is approved)

  • 2

Social Proposal (for identifying the consensus of the DAO on topics that cannot be executed on-chain)

  • 3

Constitutional Amendment (for amending the constitution)

There are two phases a proposal needs to pass for it to be implemented:

  • 1

Phase 1: Request for Comments ( governance post with details about a planned proposal is published asking the DAO for feedback)

  • 2
Phase 2: Formal Vote (binding vote on Snapshot is created on which the DAO members can vote on).
